Chat Component in React.js and React Native (is composing, chat history, scrolling the chat)

In this quick demo we demonstrate the progress of Chat Component working in sync between Web (React.js) and Mobile (React Native) versions. 

Clarification: in this case chat component is embedded in the React.js (Web) version (left) but it is a custom Ethora engine based mobile application on the React Native side (right). It is a work in progress to add these core functionalities into React Native version of Chat Component too. Currently, React.js version of Chat Component leads the way.

Ethora Chat Component is an important part of our platform as it allows developers to implement Ethora features in much easier and controlled way. 

Moving core functionalities into chat component within Ethora engine and establishing cross-platform compatibilities has been our primary focus as of lately. This video demonstrates the core functionalities working within chat component cross-platform. 

Core features demonstrated include:

  • sending and receiving messages
  • retrieving chat history and scrolling chat history
  • is composing or "now typing" where users can see when other users typing
  •
